Part-Time School Driver

Swan Rider provide home to school transport for children with special educational needs on behalf of local authoritites. You will be provided with a suitable car or small minibus for new or existing home to school council contracts. You will be required to work part time Monday-Friday mornings and afternoons during term time only. Most routes start around 07.00am for morning journeys, however may be slightly earlier and the hours will be from 12-25hrs/week.

  • You will transport children or vulnerable adults to and from school, college, or day care centres.
  • We will expect you to build fast positive and professional relationships with passengers, educational establishments and families.
  • To ensure the safety of clients and to actively ensure that all safeguarding procedures are followed and concerns are raised.
  • You must have sufficient command of spoken and written english.
  • Hold a Full UK Driving Licence for minimum 18 months
  • You must be 25 years of age or above for vehicle insurance purposes.
  • DBS criminal record check as you will be working with children, young persons and/or vulnerable adults.
  • You should have a friendly and positive attitude, enjoy working with children, be fit and reliable.
  • Ability to drive various types of vehicles.
  • Previous experience would be beneficial but not essential as training will be provided

Part-Time PA (Passenger Assistants)

The role of the passenger assistant is a very crucial part in providing a safe atmosphere for the children and the crew that travel in the vehicles. You will be required to work part time Monday to Friday mornings and afternoon during term time only. Most routes start around 07:00am for morning journeys, however may be slightly earlier and the hours will be from 12-25 hrs/week.

  • You should have a friendly and positive attitude and enjoy working with children, be fit and relaible.
  • You must have sufficient command of spoken and written english
  • To ensure the safety of clients and to actively ensure that all safeguarding procedures are followed and concerns are raised
  • Occasionally clients may exhibit difficult behaviour and the passenger assistant must be able to sensitively manage these behaviours
  • Experience of working with clients with complex needs is an advantage
  • Handling difficult situations where clients with complex behavioural issues are ‘triggered’ and their behaviour needs to be managed
  • DBS criminal record check as you will be working with children, young persons and vulnerable adults.
  • Capable of lifting and handling in accordance with Health and Safety regulations

  • Following interview a job offer will be made and all necessary documents will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check
  • You will then be provided training about the job and any other information related to the job will be provided.
  •  Information will be provided on the route you will be working on and any risks explained. A test run of the route will also be done prior to commencing work.
  • If working on a new contract a meet & greet will be arranged for the crew to meet the clients prior to beginning the transport.
